The Mouse (Rodent)

What is a mouse?
Mice originated in the steppes of Central Asia and reportedly found in this country as early as the 9th Century, when and how will continue to remain unsolved. A mouse (plural mice) is a small mammal belonging to the order of rodents. The best known mouse species is the common house mouse. Although mice may live up to two and a half years in captivity, the average mouse in the wild lives only about four months,.

Did you know?
Mice don't need to drink as there is enough moisture in the food, but if they do then about 3 ml is the usual amount per day.

These guys don't need laxatives, they do about 80 droppings per day...WOW..!!

How do you know you have them?
In a house you will find them in the kitchen, under units, behind fridges and bath panels, under stair cupboards and boiler and airing cupboards to name just a few places. In the past we have had to deal with a mouse getting stuck in a toaster but this is very rare.

Why do we need to control them?
Mice can cause considerable damage to homes by gnawing holes in flooring and kitchen units.  They leave droppings and urinate over counters and worktops and as mice carry many diseases these can be spread and cause serious illness.   For health and safety reason they need to be controlled.

How do we control mice?
At pest3.com we have years of experience dealing with behavioural and resistant mice.  We use a number of methods including freshly made rodenticide baits, gels and dusting powders.  Our technicians are thorough and professional and can eradicate the most serious of infestations

What happens during our visit?
On the first visit our technician will arrive at a time that has been arranged with you, so you will not have to wait in all day for an appointment.
We offer early morning and late evening appointments as well for your convenience.
Our technician will initially talk through the problems you are experiencing and explain what our treatment entails
He will then carry out a thorough inspection of your premises prior to any treatment and assess the level and extent of the infestation.
After the inspection rodenticide will be placed around the property as needed.
All our treatments are completely safe for children and animals and baits are placed in plastic tamper resistant bait boxes where necessary.
The technician will also offer advice on proofing (filling in any entry points that the mice are using to gain access to your property) and also advise on how to manage cleaning and food storage to prevent mice being attracted to your property.
At the end of each visit the technician will provide you with a written report so you can keep a record of what was found during the visit and what proofing is needed.

Follow up
For mice we need to carry out to two follow ups. The usual follow-up time after the initial baiting programme has been established is 10-14 days.

The first follow up will let us know how bad the infestation was and where you have had evidence of mice. The technician will re-bait as necessary and arrange the second follow up with you. On the second follow up this will normally tell us that the premises is all clear and our technician will give you advice on preventing mice in the future.  The technician will complete a detailed inspection report on all visits.
